"Today's training was fantastic. As CPAs, we are required to have 40 hours of CPE (certified professional education) per year. We've sat through lots of educational/training classes over the years; a good deal of them bordering on plain boring. Today's training was a breath of fresh air. Fun, interesting, informative, edcuational, active, engaging, and fun! Those are the first words that come to mind when I reflect on what happened in the few hours we spent together today. Thanks for adding to the spark we've ignited in the Austin CPA Chapter to proceed with our Jr. Duel event in teh Capitol City.

"I am excited about what Resource One Credit Union and my team have accomplished over the years. I owe the TCUF much praise for being a longtime advocate for financial literacy as well. You guys really sealed the deal for me several years ago when I attended the first "Train the Trainer" NEFE training. Just look at teh movement now in Texas...something the Foundation staff should really be proud of hanging your hat on."
Phillp Crocker Training Manager, CCUFC Resource One CU
"Courtney, Staci, and Lily, congratulations on a super annual report and year of accomplishments! It almost brought tears to these old eyes. Great job of caring and making a difference. The best to you both and the Foundation!

"The Foundation FOCUS training was fantastic! My volunteers learned so much! I mentioned we are starting a Money Volunteer program, along with Tarrant County Credit Union, and this training was perfect! I haven't told you lately how much I appreciate all that the Texas Credit Union Foundation does for us!! We don't tell our friends enough that they mean so much to our success on the county level - so THANK YOU SO MUCH!"
Margaret A. Jover, PH.D. County Extension Agent Family & Consumer Sciences Denton County AgriLife Extension Service
"I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed and took away from the Foundation FOCUS training in January. There was so much useful information available and you, Staci, and Laura did an amazing job (as usual) presenting it to us. What more can I say, I'm ready for the next seminar. Again, thank you all for what you do to help not only our credit union, but all credit unions across the state. I would like to say that I feel special, but I know that there are numerous beneficiaries of the services you provide! Again, thank you for having NMZCU in attendance."
Jamaal D. Robinson Operations Administrator/BSA Compliance Officer New Mount Zion Credit Union
"The Texas Credit Union Foundation is one of those organizations that always rises to the occasion. They have so many aspects and benefits, and they all work together to provide a huge benefit to its members. They embody teh credit union way and support us in so many great ways. As marketing director for North East Texas Credit Union, I have been priveleged to work with the Foundation for three years now. I called on them time and time again, and always received immediate support. First, they are teachers. They offer us creative ideas and training to help us position ourselves in our communities in a way that allows us to be seen as an organization that gives back to our members and community as a whole. Through training for financial education for all age levels, they have given us a real leg up to teach our membership the right ways to save and spend money. Staci and Courtney are always willing to train a trainer. Second, the Foundation is a great financial resource for us as well. We have received several grants that have allowed us to continue to offer the programs we have in place. The funds they put out into programs they support are really important to the financial education movement in Texas. They also keep the group informed about the opportunities available and quick to let us know if we have been approved for a grant. Last, the Foundation and employees give back to the community themselves. In 2009, I had the opportunity to work beside Staci and Courtney on a beach in Galveston, TX where we restored land destroyed by the hurricane. I know the Foundation is responsible for raising and distributing funds for disaster relief, but they took it a step further. As a group, we came together and helped the city of Galveston recover in a real, hands-on way. It's easy to cut a check, it takes dedication to step out and truly work together. I feel very blessed to work in an industry that supports each other like the credit union industry does. It is an environment like no other and I love being part of it. The Foundation is a tool that pulls us together even tighter and helps us move forward even faster by uniting us, offering us resources, and connecting us to others in our group who can help with a current task."
Tracie Smith Marketing/Business Development North East Texas Credit Union
“On behalf of the staff and Board of Directors we would like to say thank you for the opportunity that TCUF allowed us to attend the TCUL annual meeting that was held in Galveston this year. “My husband and I would like to thank you for your generosity in our time of need. On the night of March 13, 2012, we had a large oak tree fall and demolish parts of our home. The tree also managed to damage to damage the left side of my vehicle. One can only imagine the feeling of distraught when in one minute; you watch your home and your car be mangled in front of your own eyes. We had to tarp our roof and move out of our house for several weeks while the work was done to make it right. I have worked for the League for seven years and I cannot begin to tell you how much this organization does for their employees and their member credit unions. I have never worked for an organization before that I felt so much like a part of a family as this one.”

“This last class were 9th graders, but I was able to share situations that I’ve been in and how I handled them to give them an idea that these things will happen. I did the JA Business ethics so during their final lesson, I bought all of them a Rubix cube and told them that life is just like the cube – If they make a wrong turn it’s hard to get it back on track just like it’s hard to get the cube back to perfect.”

As a small credit union with a single sponsor it has been difficult because of sponsor lay offs for the last four years.
